Very awesome trip! That had to be one heck of an experience.
But.....
border to border on 101 cant include Crater Lake!!!
In all seriousness, that's a killer roadtrip. Some great photography, but what a great driving adventure!

I'd go north to south and come back a different way. Should we plan that for 2010?

I guess that's one way to do it.
I calculated 1600+ miles from Port Angeles to San Diego. There's TONS of stuff to see and do along the way (some of it we've already done ...).
I'd plan for heading to the north end on Friday night to spend the night at Lake Crescent. Sat-Sun in Washington stopping at the cool stuff along the way (northwest-most point, view Tatoosh island, Kalaloch beach, various other state parks and forts ... and Aberdeen - the hometown of Curt Cobain!). Mon-Tue in Oregon checking out lighthouses and parks and roads we've never driven (see: Siuslaw National Forest). Wed-Thu-Fri on the California coast and cities - Redwoods, Sanoma, San Fran, LA, SD, maybe catch a pro baseball or football game. Then come home on the east side of I-5 on Sat-Sun.
If anyone other than Amy, Elizabeth, and I are willing to be serious about this we would love to plan it, but I want at least a week on the road.
