Ignition Coil Trouble
So I get a CEL and it's running like poop and I limp it into Honda of Bartlesville(HOB). They clip me for $208 for a intake cleaning and say I need to spend a $100 more and let them change the plugs that have 35K on them and all will be fine. I think, I'm a fairly intelligent monkey, I can change those, so I do. They were in terrible shape. Still have the CEL. I get on the forums and find an excelent thread on misfire that lists 9-10 things to check in progression. 4th one is to lean on a buddy and get them to let you switch ignition coils (Thanks! Janet ) lo and behold one is bad.
Due to impending BMT I am now in a mild state of panic over wether I will be able to get a new one in time. Cheapest I found was Majestic at $105 and 5-7 days. I call HOB on a Saturday and they want $190 and will be here next Wednesday. So I take a chance on O'reillys to see what they can do? $83 and here Tuesday but is a Borg/Warner. OK I'll try it, but still want OEM so I call back HOB and get theirs comming at a new price of $128.
Well, I pick up O'reilly's this morning and guess what? It's OEM to a T with a lifetime guarantee. Doesn't say on box, but my question is, is it a remanufactured? Dunno, but for a price equal to Majestic Honda OEM (before S&H) i'll take a chance. Any experience with this out there?

i've had good luck with the Borg Warner stuff from Oreilly's. never used any in my s2k, but have replaced a slew of civic/integra/accord distriubtor caps/rotors/coils/etc and never had a problem with any of them.
plus, these parts might be the same ones that honda uses on the assembly lines. honda doesn't actually produce this stuff, they just get it from somewhere else and put their seal of approval on it to go on their production line.

I don't have any answers for ya, Mike. Just wanted to mention that usually when stuff is made by someone else, the manufacturer is listed in parenthesis. For example, see how Majestic lists spark plugs. However, I'm pretty sure our injectors are made by RC Engineering, but they don't list that in parenthesis on their website.
