I just found out that my co-worker's dad heads up the local SVT club. He has been telling me about these DE events that they put on at the County Sheriff's range in OKC (same place that the PCA runs their autocross). He said this is open to everyone regardless of make/model and encourages us to participate. They don't have a date set for the next event, but he is going to let me know ASAP (it will be sometime in the fall). It's only $30 to run all day. The way he described it to me was like this: the first half of the day is driver education (e.g. threashold braking, high speed lane changes) and the second half is like autocross.

personally i feel scca is not worth the money. i paid 60 bucks for 8 runs around a parking lot. id rather drive on the track or PCA. if i would have bought a membership it would have been 100 something and yeah umm i have serious issues with scca.... i should have not had to up against cars on slicks and a cold air intake doesnt give me 10-100hp that should not move me out of a class.. too many rules.
