XM radio
I am thinking about getting the wife an XM subscription for xmas. Her Odyssey has the factory stereo that's called 'xm ready' but I heard that it can be big $$ to activate it. I just rec'd an email from XM (I already have it in my car) and they are offering companion subscriptions for $7 a month w/a free radio. Any of you stereo junkies (cough, jake, cough) have any ideas of the best route to go?

I have a companion subscription and use an external receiver - because neither of my cars are XM-ready. Plus, i'm cheap and take the receiver to whichever car i'm driving so i only pay one subscription for both cars.
Call XM and see how much it would be to activate the Odyssey's receiver....i don't think they care what receiver you activate, as long as it is new one.

I would guess that the Odyssey still needs to XM receiver and antenna installed. College Hills Honda sells the Honda equipment for $226 + shipping and they have the instructions on their web site. I don't think Hardtop guy has it listed, but I am sure he could order it for you.
My wife's CR-V has an auxiliary Delphi XM unit and it works well. Personally, I don't like having the display being 'extra' in the car. In my S2 I have an Alpine head unit with XM capability and the receivers hooked up.
If you don't mind having the auxiliary display, it may be a better deal, but if you want the OEM look, the Honda equipment works well.

i had XM and didnt really like the variety of stations. I very rarely listened to it. One of my coworkers has Sirius and it seems to have a much better variety of stations and we listen to it all the time. Maybe its just me though, who knows...
