Default Winter tires for my Volvo

1. Dunlop Graspics DS-2
2. Pirelli Wintercarving
3. Michellin X-Ice
4. Bridgestone Blizzaks WS50 or REVO1
5. Firestone Winterforce M+S

195/60 15 is the tire size.

I am leaning towards Dunlop and Michellin X-Ice at this point.
Has anyone had first hand experience with any of the tires above?

Avoid the WS50s. I have them for the Audi and I don't like them. The Blizzak LM22 is a great winter tire with good dry handling too.

I couldn't see LM22 as an option on the size.
Revo1 however was.

Jon,

Too late. Got Dunlop Graspic DS2. It's already shipped.

If anyone needs a set of winter tires for a car with 17" wheels, I have 4 Yokohama winter/snow tires in my garage off of my A4 which were only used for 2,000 miles. PM me if interested.

good choice....got those for my dad's benz.

i've always preferred "studless snow and ice" tires over "performance winter" (oxymoron?) tires.

Ha! yeah I know what you mean.

I figured this winter is going to be worse than last year. Hopfully I am wrong.

Hey Andy,

I have experience with both the Bridgestone Blizzaks WS50's and the LM22's.

The WS50 is technically a better snow tire than the LM22, but it is really hard for me to notice the difference; they both worked great. Even though the LM22 is supposed to be more performance oriented with a higher speed rating, don't buy into that too much. Relative to the WS50 it is, but it still will plow all over the place when pushed.

IMO, either one would be a good choice for a winter tire.

EDIT: I just saw you purchased a set. Nevermind.
