Well winter is here and nothing is better than a steaming hot bowl of chilli after being out in the elements.

Popeye's chilli consists of:

2lbs of coarse ground sirloin
1 large onion
1 bell pepper
1 can of kidney beans
2 cans of stewed tomatoes
3 jalapeno peppers
Carroll Shelby's chilli mix

.....after cooking I put Fritos in the bottom of the bowl add the hot chilli then cover with shreaded cheese. Mmmmmmmm

Oh and an ice cold beer

Anyone heard of cooking the meat in beer 1st before adding the other ingredients? I may try this on the next batch.

I have heard of drinking beer while cooking the meat.

Actually I have heard this. It doesn't do much for the flavor. The spicy stuff takes over.

My recipe is similar except i use individual spices instead of the chilli mix.
