Steve and Becky,

I watched some of the Top Fuel qualifying runs on TV yesterday afternoon. I didn't realize they'd changed form 1320 to 1000 feet. I'm sure the extra 320 feet of sandtraps, catch nets, fences, etc. will make all the existing tracks safer. And they still trapped over 300 mph. What do the fans think of the change in format?

I,personally am against it because I'm a purest .However that being said I think NHRA had to do something after the death of Scott Kalitta

The fuel cars are to damn fast and I never thought I'd say that.and I noticed that several teams during qualifing were running "out the back door"...the full 1320
I'm sure the data loggers were still recording data for when NHRA lets them go back to 1320ft

They need to do away with the laid back superchargers and the twin mags and while you're at it do away with all the timers and electronics

Jeezus these things have 5 clutches

They need to slow them down for sure ;also noticed the Team Force cars all automaticly deployed their parachutes if the cars shook past the 500 ft mark
I guess for saftey

The quarter mile is now 1000 feet?? Is that metric, new math or just for the imbeciles that can't divide 5280 by 4?

The fuel cars are limited to 1000 ;all the other classes run the full 1/4 mile.

The is all in reaction to the death of Scott Kalitta

Thanks for clearing that up. I watched some Top Fuel qualifying and jumped to the conclusion that all classes would be 1000 feet. So that means that the tracks can't use the 320 feet to add to the barriers, since other classes race through the full 1320. I completely misunderstood. And actually admitted it. ;-)
