Are your sure it didn't just back out from not being on tight enough? Check between the firewall and the back of the engine and transmission. Many a cap has ended up there.

It would be weird that someone would pop your hood in broad daylight, steal your oil filler cap, then close the hood and walk off.
Yep, you were right. After living with a rattle coming from my transmission tunnel for about 2 weeks I figured the oil cap must be lodged in there somewhere. With a flashlight I was just able to see the edge of it. It was wedged between the transmission and the tunnel. At 3500 RPM it would vibrate. I managed to fish it out with a coat hanger. So, I'm a dork. Nobody stole my oil cap.

Ha. Well, that's good to know. I live in north Columbus/Dublin area (wrong side of the river from what I hear) and had been thinking "great, some punk kids are going around stealing our d@mn oil caps"!

If it makes you feel any better, I lost a hotel key card in the slot by the cup holder (when the little spring loaded cover thingy was open), so I have that in the tunnel somewhere.

That was the rattle you were trying to tell us about the other day?

I would just assume that some punk kids did it.

Has anyone ever seen a dust cover for just the passenger compartment of the S, for if you just want to leave the top down all the time? I saw a vette the other day with one of these.

I park the car topdown when it's not too hot. Direct sunlight will cook the seats and ultimately cook my rearend.

Why, that's just plumb stupid. Why not just put the top up?

Dude, that's not stupid. Some people might want to remove the convertible top to save weight (and go faster), some people would like to avoid the excessive wear and tear on the mechanicals/fabric of the top by not putting it up down up down up down all the time.

It's a great idea

Dave
