Other Owners Not Acknowledging
Twice in the last two weeks I have seen other S2000s in traffic and waved to them without so much as even a glance in my direction.
Last week I saw a Silverstone AP2 with a bald guy driving downtown that I passes on Goodale who I waved to and he didn't even look at me. We were both top down.
Today on Morse I came up on a Red AP2 and passed him in traffic, and I waved. Both of us top down. Once again, nothing.
I was trying to figure this out and I have come up with several possibilities.
1. They are so oblivious to traffic, that they don't even notice that someone with the same exact type of car is right next to them and waving.
2. They are not an enthusiast and they just wanted a convertible, and they don't even realize that it is the same car.
3. They think that they are better than to give someone making a friendly gesture a wave back.
4. They were both considerably older than me, and they don't think that I deserve an S2000, I'm 33.
5. They think I'm crazy and don't want any trouble.
6. They think that my car is too dirty and won't wave back until I wash it.
7. VTEC FTW is an attention whore who needs validation from other S owners.
8. Something I didn't even think of.

I'm going with #2, this happens to me quite a bit. I just think they're oblivious.
There aren't enough enthusiasts around our area. I get more waves and thumbs up from other modded cars but that's about it. Now if I got in my Dads beat up vette everyone and their brother with a vette would wave. Same with bikes and jeeps around my area.
Just the other day this lady was driving a silverstone S and looked right at me as I waved and just kept driving.

Why do you think that writing a check for the same make/model of car establishes some kind of kinship? After reading "S2000 Talk" and "Under the Hood" for a few years, I've concluded that more of these cars are owned by hairdressers and interior decorators than car enthusiasts. Perhaps these owners who didn't wave are car enthusiasts and just assumed, based on the odds, that you were one of the "posers" who wants to own a sportscar as an image enhancer.

Hmmmm....My experience has been almost the opposite. Most S drivers I come across do respond to "the wave" and seem to be less oblivious than the average driver on the road.
Although I am suprised when I see an S with the top up on a sunny, 75 degree Saturday afternoon... Such a waste...
