OT: Jack Maxton Chevy

little off topic in a way but:
dont buy a chevy!
i own and run a business that i have to pull a 14k trailer 30-100 miles a day and i would recommend a ford 350 or 250 depending on how much your pulling and diesel is a must.
ive had 3 now not one problem. just stick with the 7.3!!! the 6.0 is junk. the only think you need to do to them is change the oil every 5k and a fuel filter every 10-15k. if you drive on bumpy roads the swaybar endlinks go but other than that there pretty much tanks.
i would look for 99-03 7.3L diesel you can get them fairly cheap now friend just bought one fo 18k 03 7.3L with 120k
just sold one of my to get a dually it was an 01 4x4 crew short box with 120 k for 16.5k
just thought i would share my opinions and let you know my dually also pulls my 24ft inclosed car trailer well also good luck with whatever you buy

All the best Jeremy! Where is this beast!?
You can look for Chad Gilsinger (probably none of you know him) to drive work's 2007 S2k T3 car at the Runoffs next month -- likely to a podium.
Brett, sounds like you've been in Fords for a while. Are you just a "Ford guy" or did you have a bad Chevy experience? I'm neither and open to input.
The only Ford experience I have is with a Diesel Excursion from work, which has seriously dropped in fuel economy (3-4mpg) over the last 30,000 miles. Any ideas on that? My guess is something has been neglected. Fuel filter?
edit: As far as requirements, 3/4 ton and at least an extended cab. Since I don't except a Ford or Chevy to meet my reliability expectations, I would like an extended warranty, so it needs to be well under the 100k mark which is what most of the warranties cap out at.

Good to hear about your experience at Maxton, Jeremy.
=====
I had a good experience with Maxton, test driving a C6 coupe.
My father bought one of his vettes from them.

nope never was a ford man. in fact i was raised in a chevy family. any way when we bought our business we needed a deisel with losts o power and at the time ford was the best so we tried one and havnt ever wanted to switch. unless toyota or honda makes a 1 ton.
had friends with chevys and dodges and i wouldnt suggest one. now the ford is also a american made vehicle i can see you concern about warranty. the only thing like i said with for the 03-and up have a horible deisel engine that has tons of problems. the exhaust manifold likes to crack around 80k and the EGR valve goes out alot that might be why the diesel you where driving was getting worse gas mileage.
now the 99 i use everyday to pull that 14k trailer it has 160k and only thing we have done is brakes, universal joints $38, ball joints and 4x4 hubs, and 1 trans flush. other than that just 5 gal oil changes and fuel filters
just pm me if you have any other questions about them. and old 99 extended cab long bed got 23-26 mpg on the highway!!!
