So I'm doing a little math. Google says 2,300 miles between here and there. So if I can averaged 65 mph (including pee/food/gas stops), thats about 35 hours of road time. 12 hours of seat time a day gets me there in 3 days. The only reservations I have are for Fri & Sat night at the host hotel. Sounds like fun, eh?

You should have no problem finding hotels along the interstates. It's near attractions (Grand Canyon, etc) that rooms are often already booked up. I got scared and started booking rooms. With 14 nights of hotels/motels, I was also concerned to keep the cost down, so booking in advance allowed me to shop around, read reviews (don't wanna stay in a rat-hole), and make some decent choices.
