I'm guessing that means you are running 255s in the rear then? CR wheels are same as stock wheels right? (17x7, 17x8.5?) I wasn't sure if they made the RE070s in 245s...

I'm on my first set of Michelin PS2s... I absolutely love these tires... although, having said that, I may switch to RE01Rs next to try them out on the 18s.

I am on my 3rd S. I would definitely have to say with over 200k miles piloting an S that the best wear mileage/still grippy tire I have ever run on the AP1 is the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. Tons of mileage, they just last forever. I would still prefer the S02 on this car anyday though.

On my AP2 as mentioned above, I am running the RE070's and have found my new love. I'll never run another tire again.
Would you know about how much is a ton of miles?

Depends on your driving.

Assuming sprited but not stupid driving:

RE01R: 12k front, 10k rear
RE070: 14k front, 12k rear
PS2: 16k front, 14k rear

I'll throw in my vote for RE01R's. Have a pair on the rear (S02s on the front, long story) but surprisingly they behave quite nicely together. Love the 01Rs though.

Off curiousity, where did you get these numbers from?

LOTS of experience talking to people about tires. I have considered just about every decent tire on the market for both my track set and my daily set and I have a tendency to gather opinions on everything.

That's why the numbers are so rounded, they are responses based on personal experience and opinions gathered from others with personal experience.

Obviously your personal experience will vary greatly based on how you drive. I have even known people to blow their fronts first based on their alignment preferences and driving styles.

Gotcha...

Good reference tool.... I should be good for another season on the PS2s I have now.... after that, I'll have to bite the bullet and replace them. I don't like to run mismatched tires so it'll be all 4 if I go to the RE01Rs.

The RE070's that come on the CR are top - even better than the RE01R's in my opinion - but keep in mind the RE01R's are built for the masses, so there are lots of sizes to choose from and they are not designed for a specific car in mind.

The RE070's on the other hand, is an OEM tire built to the manufacturers specifications for their applicatin.
So for example, the WRX, S2KCR, and new Nissan GTR all come with RE070's from the factory, but each has their own flavor of the tire based on the manufacturers requirements.

With that said, one could say the RE070's on the CR were specifically designed for the S2KCR (infact if you've ever watched the CR promo video from Mid-Ohio they mention this)

Also, the RE070's are a 140 treadwear vs. 200 on the RE01R's. So the RE01R's should last a bit longer.

Overall - the RE01R's are great tires and are pretty much THE tire to get for high performance applications. Though for the S2000, with the introduction of the CR, there is now a tire specifically designed with the S2K in mind - the RE070's. They may perform quite well on non-CR models (I'd be interested to hear any experiences if anyone has done this)

Personal experience.
RE070's - best tire I've ever had on a car hands down, unfortunately they lasted a total of 9 days - 7 days on the street and 2 days at the track and the tires were done. But it was a great 9 days :-)

RE01R's - best tire you can get for about the same price as the RE070's and they will last a bit longer with similiar performance.

Now, recently I needed a quick set of tires for my drive down to Atlanta (700 miles each way), plus playing on the Dragon, and I did an AutoX event at the Atlanta motor speedway while I was down there.

I did not want to spend $900 for the RE070's just to wear them down on 1400 miles of highway driving, but I needed a simple good all around tire and did not have a big budget to spend.

With that said, I settled on the Kumho MX's as I had these on a previous BMW I owned and enjoyed them.

My first impressions on the MX's on the CR were met with joy. They seemed responsive, grippy, and not loud.

As I went through the dragon, the more heat I got in them the worse their grip got, they got sloppier the hotter they got.
At the AutoX event they completely sucked. Terrible terrible at the AutoX. It was like driving on ice skates.

I think the S2K simply has too much mechanical grip for these tires which can result in over driving the tire quite quickly.

So my lesson is learned. I will finish out the MX's this season, but come spring nothing but RE070's are going on my car. I just need to keep them off the track (cause they wear too quick and it gets expensive) and find a nice track alternative.)

I guess you get what you pay for....
