need oh drivers opinions on winter car
Recently bought out the lease on my s and plan on keeping it for many years, hopefully to pull it out on the weekends ect., maybe the future wife will dig it?!
Anyways i dont want to salt up my three season ride with winter snows and have started looking for a winter/long trip car.
I am considering subara wrx, sti, forester xt, evo, r32, srt-4 , accord, civic si, scion (i am little older than gen y), acura tl (over budget),
I want a nice ride that can take a long trip but i dont want to spend too much. I also want decent get up and go. I am not into suv's however if i had to buy one i think it would be the new diesel jeep liberty.
I am very much leaning towards either a wrx or just step it up and get the sti, i typically do things in overboard fashion.
Do you guys feel that the sti would be a reasonable daily driver at least for december through march and the long trip every now and then.
I was considering a used 2004, if i could land in the 24-25K range i would pull the trigger.?
Anyone have personal experience.

that list looks good, but i don't know if you'd want to "winterize" an R32.
....oh wait...
i just realized you're talking about VW and not Skyline
i'd say see if you can get a WRX..i don't know if you'd be able to get an STi in that price range..

Buy an Audi with Quattro. You can get 2002 A4 for low 20's with a warranty. It looks great, drives great, and it is something you can feel good about taking a date out in. They are offering $329 a month on new 1.8T Quattros currently too. This motor can get to 220+ hp with less than $1,000 invested. The rear bias of true Quattro is unbeatable for year-round driving.
Scoobys are just too ugly or too boy-racer. Plus they are not as fast as their owners would like you to think. If you go with a legacy, then you will look like somebody's grandma. The EVO might be a sound car, but they look like ass with the wing and what will you do when Mitsu pulls out of North America? R32? Do you really want to spend that much on a Golf that drives like a front drive car? SRT-4 has a ballsy motor, BUTT (and I do mean BUTT) it is still a Neon and still has "Dodge Quality."

i agree with the vw r32, my bro said the same thing, do you really want to spend that much on a golf.
the srt4 was just fun to drive, if you have a chance test drive one do it, at that price i could beat it into the ground and not really care, but i dont think i could drive a neon
i thought if i debadged the sti, put a 2.5 rs decklid the only tell tale sign would be the large hood scoop.
I have some reservations about an a4, ie reliability and unless modified would be too slow this would also void the extended warranty.
