I managed to get 30mpg in the S on the way to and from Gingerman Raceway this weekend. At the track I most likely got around 15mgp

The 30mpg was all highway though. I find I average with mixed city/highway around 24 to 25mpg.

My newish DD, Camry SE V6 has been getting approx 25-26 mpg. Thats about 65% highway, 35% city. The one tank of mostly highway was almost 28 mpg. No one would accuse me of driving slowly.

When I got the S, I decided that I would not watch mpg much, I didn't want to spoil any of the fun. However, when I have checked, I have been between 23 and 26 mpg.

You aren't having any fun at those MPG levels.

I read in the Dispatch today that GEO Metro's are getting HUGE premiums and dealers can't keep them in stock. If I remember right, the article said the GEO Metros are going for 4-5 times their book values (dealers reporting) due to their great MPG ratings.

Keep in mind, the last Metro rolled off the assembly line back in 2001, so these are old cars.

Fun in one, not in the other (not lately, anyway )
I've seen as low as 22 in the S when i've driven her hard, but i usually get 29-30.

I paid $300 for my MY00 Metro 3 cylinder about a year ago from some kid.
It's not much to look at, but it saves me a ton of money and I've never had a problem with it (it's at 145k miles now). And I can actually beat on it without breaking any laws. What a great buy it was.
