The plant's 450 workers will be transferred to Honda's car plants. Tim Garrett, vice president of administration for Honda's American division, said most of the transfers would be to the car plants in Marysville and East Liberty. He added that workers would have the opportunity to move to Honda facilities in Indiana or Alabama as well.

Honda officials stressed that no jobs will be lost. The company often promotes its layoff-free history in Ohio.

Honda still plans to hold its annual Honda Homecoming event July 24-26. Now in its 19th year, the homecoming allows Honda motorcycle owners from across North America to gather in Marysville and tour the plant. Last year, about 7,000 people attended the rally, according to the Logan County Bureau of Convention and Tourism.
Hopefully Becky won't get bumped back to 2nd shift

While I don't think this was a total surprise to many people, it was a sad day at work.

How many years does Becky have? Many of the associates left at MMP have pretty low clock numbers.

A sad day indeed. I started at MC 20 years ago. I still know a lot of people over there, and this will be a big change for many of them. Wonder if Homecoming will continue past 2009? Seems doubtful, but who knows.

I don't think many were shocked in my area, but this is very sad and bad news in my mind. I hope as a whole things can stabilize after this. Makes me wonder if I will have a place to work at in 25 years...

I accepted a new position at East Liberty a week before the announcement was made. But many people in my current department at MMP who have 20+ years experience are besides themselves. Homecoming is definitely questionable after this year.

S2Timmy, I think you just released your true identity.... Where in ELP are you going? A few people I hired in with work PQ over there.

The rumor that we hear is that Honda has plans for the building for either parts storage or automotive assembly. If I hear anything from within Honda I will post it.
