It makes you think twice
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Police said on Monday that a deadly crash that occurred early Sunday might have been caused by people who were racing along Interstate 70.
The crash occurred at about 1:30 a.m. along the westbound lanes of I-70, east of Hilliard-Rome Road, police said.
According to police, George R. Staton Jr. drove onto the eastbound lanes at a high rate of speed when his vehicle crossed over into the westbound lanes of I-70 and collided with a vehicle.
Staton, 30, was thrown from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver of the westbound vehicle, Monica Durban, 20, was transported to Mount Carmel West Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police. She remained in critical condition on Monday afternoon, 10TV's Glenn McEntyre reported.
Investigators told 10TV that they found nitrous oxide, a chemical used to make a car go faster, on Staton's vehicle.
Police said alcohol was found at the scene of the Sunday's crash, but no other details were released, McEntyre reported.
Attempts by 10TV News to reach the Staton family on Monday were unsuccessful, McEntyre reported.

I posted this because it hit close to "home" for one of the guys at work. The guy who was killed was my co-worker's best friend.
The sad thing about this is George Staton's wife and cousin were in a SUV behind him and witnessed as the whole thing unfolded.
The tragedy is George is dead and an innocent lady may die because of his thoughtlessness.
Racing on the street is stupid, keep it on the track

[QUOTE=Meeyatch1,Jan 30 2008, 09:30 AM] So, was his wife racing him that she was that close in the SUV, or did she just happen to be in the area out of chance?
