Local Mechanic Help
Good morning.
Need some help..
Cheryl's car threw a CEL again yesterday at Mid Ohio. My thought (as well as a few others), is to have the coil pack and the spark plugs replaced. I can probably find the parts no problem, but don't know how to install them. Does anyone have any recommendation for someone that can help with this? We've parked Cheryl's car until further notice since I don't know what other issues the car may have
Thanks.

I had some issues yesterday heading to Mid-Ohio also. I had some misfire
before boost and it threw a cel. I think codes were p0171 p0172 p0170.
I had to change plugs right on 71. Missed the parade. Oh well.
After the plugs were change I didn't have any issues or a cel. I would scan the cel first. If you don't have a scanner and if it's not a blink ing cel I would just drive it to the autozone and get the codes scan, they do not charge for a scan. Any symptoms while driving? It could be something more simple than a plug, get her scan.
I would do it for her but I'm in Akron, If it's a coil pack or plugs it's pretty easy to do.

my s was throwing these codes when i purchased it. it ended up being the injectors. just a thought.
i was just thinkin about your problem you said it was cylinder 1-3 and the s has individual coilpacks so if you could switch one with the cylinder 4 pack and then see if it misfires in that cylinder.

Make sure you throw in some fuel system cleaner, and dont get the Walmart 88 cents stuff "Cheap Mocky", .. jk jk .. I was misfiring as well, i swear its with this cheap gas going on right now at all the stations. I know down here I got a bad batch in both cars. The plugs are a good start. If it's the coil pack, I had to replace steven's coil pack in the cougar, i know it's not hard in the S2000 either..... do u have the manual for the car, like the repair manual. If not text me and i can send u it. It's very easy to change the parts!

Thanks for all the help!!! I haven't tried to install spark plugs before so this will be interesting.. (I'll probably need help with that one).. Coil pack, I've never done so I'll peek in the shop manual tonight and see how hard it is...
I'll try Jeremy's idea of switching the coil packs to see which one it may be as well. Hopefully we can get this issue fixed!
Jeff Pister from Marysville Honda was kind enough to call last night as well so I'll probably checking in with him as well. It just sucks that he's 2 hours away!!!
Thanks everyone for all the help!!

I tried finding a DIY on the forums but didn't come across one. But here is a good compression DIY that is pretty similar to a plug change. Gives you detail of all the tools needed.

Good luck I think from the codes that the issues will be solved.
