... Second was the entire Saturn line. Don't know how many of you have been to Spring Hill, TN but that whole community was basically built around the assembly facility. 15 years doesn't seem like a long time, considering the amount of public/private investment.
Yet if they drop the brand, they have to settle with all of the dealers that they put out of business.

The PT Cruiser gone...Oh no what ever will I do???
Flame me if you wish, but If I were GM ... I'd keep Saturn and tell Buick, GMC and Pontiac to peace out!
They would be just fine with an expanded Chevrolet line of Cars and Trucks, Cadillac for their lux line and Saturn to compete with the imports. Most people don't even know that Saturn is a GM company. Just my two cents

I don't think the Spring Hill plant builds any Saturn models now. That is what makes it hard for GM to sell the brand: all their product is built in other GM plants.

The Viper departing the market after this year is like the heavy weight figher with the title retiring, when you consider the Viper ACR holds the record for the fastest lap for a production vehicle (7:22 vs 7:29 for the GTR and 7:26 for the ZR1) at the ring.

Brand engineering of the type practiced by GM simply makes little sense and is a holdover from the 60's. The only place it has in today's automotive world is in bringing international GM cars (aka G8 ) to the US.
As far as Saturn, it lost its distinct flavor when GM decided to bring over Opels and brand them as Saturns. They might as well be Chevys.
As far as the S2000......I hope Honda cancels it altogether, but I won't believe it until the word comes from Japan.
