Indycar Parade Lap 2012
We will be doing the Parade Lap again this year. The rest of this is basically the same as past years, I’ll assume everyone who has decals on their car will want to be in on this (sans NSX), so only let me know if you DO NOT want to be in on this.
A few facts (same as in the past):
• Weather permitting
• No hardtops
• No roll cages (if you want a driver in your car)
• Secret compartment must be in place for the person to sit on (see pic below)
• Car must be clean (give a bath Saturday night and wipe it down on Sunday)
• If you’re a paying member of S2ki, I’ll take requests for drivers (no guarantees). Reply here, don't PM me (fyi, Rubins is taken...)
• Take the wind deflector off (if you haven’t done this before, someone can show you how) and bring a phillips screw driver
• Take something to drink with you in the car – the wait maybe long (someone had an umbrella last year - not a bad idea)
• You’ll have to sign a waiver from the track
• You CANNOT drink alcohol the morning before this
The facts listed above are not subject to debate
Keep in mind, there are fewer Indycar drivers than S2000s, so everyone will not get an Indy driver. Everyone should get a chance to drive around the track, but you may get a VIP or you may fly solo – much of this stuff happens at the last minute.
Also, I may set the order of the cars, but if/when the cars are split up into two rows, or a camera man is put into a car – the order will change.
I'm still working on having the driver's name place on the rear fenders, but that would happen at the last minute IF it happens at all.
Drive at a reasonable speed – a Mid-Ohio S2000 pace car will lead the way, so just maintain the gap with the car in front of you, slow down a little at the keyhole and the esses (where the crowd isthickest), and don’t make any sudden accels and stops. The pace car driver will go over how to drive once we get ready to pull onto pit lane. Hopefully he doesn't park on the track again - I don't want any drivers to pee in your car
I’ll announce, at the track, by Sunday morning when we should be ready to go. Get to your cars before then to wipe them down and line the cars up – we’ll need to be in a tight pack to get thru thepaddock. Race starts at 1pm, sofor now figure on 10 or 11am.
So far, we’ve been batting 1000 – no one has thrown a driver off of the back of their and no one has spun out.
This is the highlight of the weekend, so I hope everyone has a good time!
