Indycar Parade Lap 2010
Indycar Pre-race Parade Lap at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
Yes, this post is long, but please read it all before asking any questions - thx
Weather permitting, ahem, we will have a parade lap before the main Indycar race on Sunday. The only cars eligible decal program S2000s. I don't have the maximum count of cars yet. This list is seperate from the decal list. Each car will either carry an Indycar driver or a VIP for a slow lap around the track. To be eligible, you must agree to the following:
- Have your car clean and ready by (time tbd, probably before 2pm)
- Remove your wind deflector
- Air con off well before you near the track (if you have a problem with this, then go pound sand )
- Remove all mud/dirt from your tires
- No hard tops (obviously)
I'll add to this list and answer these questions once i get more details. FAQs:
- Are passengers allowed? No
- What if it rains? Put your top up and then head back to the parking area. You may get to drive a lap....or maybe not
- Will new decals be added to the car? No, but i'm asking for this for this year
- Do you need to wear long pants? No, once you go out onto the track, you'll be in your car, you won't be walking around.
Again, I do not have the maximum car count that will participate. The selection criteria will based on a few things (club membership, amount/quality of Indy photos taken, and how active you are in the club.)
Like last year, I do not take requests regarding which person you want in your car, so don't bother asking. Much of the parade lap order will be based on your car color - trying to represent as many S2000 colors as possible and mixing their order up. Plus, the order may get mixed up if someone has to carry a cameraman, or they split the group in half again, etc...
I'll assume everyone wants to participate. Therefore, if you DO NOT want to participate, then post here.
Wear your t-shirt during the parade lap
If you wear a hat, it must be acceptable to Indycar (no profane logos, etc...)
Take a bottle of water with you, it will probably be hot while you wait on the false grid
You will have to sign a waver before you go out onto the track
One more thing - leave the parade boot at home....

Are we suppose to get t shirts with the decals? Or are they giving it at the track?

Looking forward to it!
Pete, if you want to, put me last in the lineup... I had a great time getting Danica last year, and want all the newbies to be able to experience this. Ill still do the parade lap for sure, Im just trying to let a newbie enjoy it too!
