Kind of ruled out STI/Evo for the time being because of price, insurance, attention,
etc..
So much for that premise.

Here's our contribution to economic stimulation:

Congrats on the new car.

It's too bad I put down a deposit on an 09 fit a month ago, or I'd heavily consider her old car.

Nice choice! Never driven the Evo but I can honestly say 135i was a beast. I loved the car. New M3 was even better, but I think 135i + tunning kit and maybe suspension mod will smoke M3 and much understated.

Get your deposit back and come check it out!

I like the interior of the new one, but in all other aspects I like the older generation better. Ours is much more "hyper," - the new one is kind of mellowed out in comparison. Andy can vouch for how it drives...

I would have looked at the 135 if it had 4 doors or if we got the hatch version, but I would have probably still chosen the Evo b/c of price, seats, handling, all-wheel drive.

I've tried to talk myself out of buying one of these for months, but at the end of the day it was the only thing that really interested me. So far, I'm blown away even in stock form. Simply amazing the way this car can take a corner...
