I found a dealer with a 2009 WRX tonight, and I'm 99% sure that the test drive sealed the deal. Much improved over the 2008, pulls and handles like an STI for $10k less. Just need to decide when to pull the trigger and list the Fit.
Plus being a member of the international mountain biking assoc. gives us access to VIP pricing on all Subarus, which equates to 2% under invoice plus whatever incentives are available without haggle.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

I thought I would add a few comments since I own two Legacy GT limited. 1 manual and 1 auto. If you do any oil changes or minor maintenance yourself, keep all records! The Subaru manual tranny is no where near the smoothness of Honda. I have switched everything over to Mobil 1 fluids and have seen some improvement in smoothness. Tranny, front, and rear diff fluids are very easy to change. I do not know if this holds true for the 2009 models, but windshield wiper blades have been covered under the 3yr 36,000 mile warranty. Premium gas only. Some turbo stutter seems to be present in most 2.5L turbo engines. Cobb Tuning has been able to make most of it go away with their accesport and tune. Very easy to get much more hp with little money.
Information can be found here (http://forums.nasioc.com/) So far both of mine have been trouble free. I would not hesitate in buying another Subaru.
Enjoy your new purchase whatever your decision

^Yeah, the tranny definitely doesn't have that Honda feel straight out of the box, but bushings/short shifter can do wonders. Also, the 2009 feels much better than previous years, although I can't find any documentation that anything was changed (but a few magazine's mention that it was "beefed up" with no specifics...)
No front and rear diff on the new WRX, so no worries there. As for the accessport, I plan to go stage 1 and call it a day.

I have a Perrin short shifter and it only helped with shortening the throws. Unless Suby radically changed their 4 wheel drive system, you will have a front and rear diff. The front diff and tranny share the same fluid and require a fluid designed or compromised for a differential and the syncros of the manual transmission example 75/90 ns. Rear diff 75/90
Car looks nice, smaller version of the Legacy. I am sure you will like it especially after stage 1.

Still weighing options. Mitsubishi just announced 0% financing for 60 months on Evos, so that's back in the mix. I'm working on a couple deals trying to find the one I want. May end up getting an Evo for the same price I was going to pay for the WRX (accounting for the 0% financing savings over 5 years) - the payments would be nearly identical... seems like a no-brainer
