I know that Honda Manufacturing plays a big part in the economy of Central Ohio (if you define it as the center of the state rather than its current use as a codeword for Franklin County), and I hope that they continue to provide jobs and income to my neighbors. I sincerely wish them well.

With that said, I really don't give a rat's patoot whether the next car I buy is a Honda or not. If Honda offers something I want to buy, great; I've owned one Acura and one Honda and I'm pretty much a satisfied customer. But if Honda doesn't offer something that captures my fancy, there's many other interesting vehicles in the marketplace.

I think Soichiro Honda was quoted as saying something about stirring your soul as you drive. Look at anything on a Honda lot and you see nothing like that. In fact you probably think ugh or meh.

Throw Acura into that picture and somebody should be a bit nervous.

My thoughts.

"Kill the Element, it is not selling well." Gee, roll it out and do nothing to it for its entire life and people lose interest (now that I think about it, the S2000 is similar but it was never intended to be a volume model). Seems like something could have been done to breathe new life into this product.

Why does the Accord have to be a Camry fighter? Make it better. More fun to drive, better looking, more value--all the stuff that Hyundai seems to be doing.

CRZ? Kind of an underwhelming result considering the technology employed and the heritage of the name.

I see nothing that makes me want to buy Honda in the future. I hope that changes.

Scott. How's things?

An interesting article.

I'll post the same response as when I saw it on Acurazine recently.

Great read, thank you!

Honda execs seem to be like Obama. They are so busy looking at things in a long-term way that they don't see the short-term issues that could eventually cause problems down the line.

In short, you can be too busy looking at the forest to see the trees that you about to crash into.

However, it's that long-term view that makes Honda a pretty good stock pick IMHO.

With that said, the only Honda I'm excited about in the current lineup is the Fit. I really, really want one as a fuel-sipping daily driver. I'm not excited about any Acuras other than maybe the TSX. You can see my lack of Hondarrific excitement in the fact I was lured to Cadillac for my luxo wants. I just hit 20k miles in the V and it's still trouble-free. I am still in shock over that.

I'm not sure I need a car to stir my sole anymore, I need a car to haul my fat ass around in comfort. Anyone want to buy a Civic Si?
