Great service at Honda East
Had my first service done this morning at Honda East. Had my oil changed and the spark plug TSB done. The tech (Justin I believe) let me stay with him the whole time. He is the one who works on most of the S2000 there and he was very knowledgable about the car. Shop was clean and so was he and he was very careful when around the car. Even asked me what pressures I keep the tires at instead of factory setting. He also has a highly modded AWD eagle talon, so he knows and understands what people do to these cars.
He also used my Mobil one oil filter and my salesperson paid for the oil change. The bill would have been $41.43 (with my filter). This was also with synthetic Mobil 1 10w30 and I also got to keep the extra 1/2 quart. Its amazing how different the motor feels with the synthetic in it. VTEC feels different though as some others has stated when using synthetic, but I can not describe it, it just feels different. For $41.00 with my filter, It is worth it to me to have the dealer do the oil change and basic look see underneath than for me to do it myself (would not save me much to do it myself) and I typically do all of my own maintenance on my cars.

I have 2300 miles. They use Mobile one on ever S2000. I do not believe in waiting till a certain milage since many cars, even my fathers SLK has it as factory fill as it is in most Porches also.

Also, it will be years befor I have 10K miles on the car. I also feel the synthetic is better protection in the long run against sludge and corrosion protection. Since I will drive it occasionally in the winter on nice days, the quicker pumpability will lube the engine quicker for what that is worth.

I put synthetic in my '00 at about 3,600 miles (purchased it with 3,035) and it hasn't blown up yet.:-)
I do think that some of the recommendations against synthetic oil carry over from when it was new, different, and not fully understood. I realize that engine designs and materials are different, but Corvette, BMW, Mercedes, and several other high-end manufacturers fill the engines with synthetic at the factory.
I've got about 14k miles now; we'll know whether I did any harm in about 9 more years and 90k more miles. (Well, we might find out that I did wrong before that, but won't be able to say OK until then.)
