I probably would own an Element myself if my wife would set foot in the ugly thing but you are crazy
Two dogs, kid(s), items to haul and wife/husband.....hmmm...not sure whether everyone will be comfortable traveling in Mini CS vs. Element SC. We will toss a coin on this one.

There were only 2 with manuals in the state of Ohio as of last weekend, and both were Root Beer. Throughout the entire midwest, plus PA, WV and VA, there were a few more root beers, a couple silvers and maybe one black. No galaxy greys or blues. Root beer was not initially our top choice, but we're pleased with it now that we've had it for a few days - it has orange/gold flake in the paint and it's stunning in the sun.
A lot of dealers list these on their websites or advertise having them on autotrader, but don't have them when you call them up. A shame, since the manual tranny is actually VERY good. Far better than the one I had in my 06 Civic Si (which was very good itself).
Better yet, for a couple hundred dollars and a few hours labor, the 5-speed can be converted to 6-speed with a reported 20% (5mpg) fuel increase. One of the better techs at Marysville is really high on the SC and excited to play around with it, so it's hard to tell what this thing will be a year from now...
