Default F1 season opener!

Try to contain your enthusiasm everybody, but the F1 season starts this weekend in Australia!

A few rule changes should make things a little more interesting. I feel the biggest change is the requirement that a car must start the race with the same amount of fuel that it ended qualifying with. This should make for some very interesting strategies as far as fuel loads/starting position.

Anybody know of any local establishments that carry the F1 broadcasts? I know of a racing themed sandwich shop in downtown Kent that might, but I'm not sure. Unfortunately I don't get Speed Channel at home.

And for all you insomniacs out there, here's your chance to get some sleep! (According to Carmen).

i was looking as well, but nothing is around here. i saw a little bit this evening, and looks like pole is Michael...yet once again. Ferrari 1-2....Toyota's made a pretty decent push this year as well..they qualified pretty high... Kimi drove around on what they reported as a flat tire..
i've never seen an F1 race in person... that's one of my dreams.

Bradley, Bradley, Bradley...Why would you go to a sandwich shop at 3AM? Isn't that when they normally show these parades? By the way, I get Speed Channel and will offer my TV for your F1 viewing at $80/hr. . Seriously, we'll have to get together to watch a race. You can educate me on how "parade racing" is exciting. I have an open mind. For those who like real racin', check out the Cup race at Atlanta this Sunday. Fastest track on the circuit. 200 MPH of non-restrictor plate racing. And 3 wide even through the turns.

What can I say, we insomniacs will go to almost any length to catch a bit of shuteye. I say almost any length since visiting your house at 3AM would probably be a bit much even for me.

Well, I turned on Speed at 9:30 to watch the race and they were practicing. What's that all about? Do they practice 30 minutes before the race goes off? I'm confused.

I"m not sure what the schedule looked like. I don't even know what time the race was supposed to start since I knew I wouldn't be watching.

The Speed Channel program always includes a 30 minute review of the F1 practice, qualifying, interviews and such. The race almost always begins at the top of the hour. All in all, it was a better race than I have seen all last year. The first time a Ferrari didn't make it to a podium spot since September of '99. I wonder how much of it had to do with the rule changes. I know a lot of it had to do with pit stops (Jacques and Jensen at the same time).

I watched the race last night [sunday], and since I didn't get to read the paper
on Sunday morning, it was just like it was "real time" ! Best F1 race I have seen
in the recent past, almost like real racing I might actually look forward to
more F1 races if they are NOT like last years "Ferrari time trials" [ Ferrari was
just too good ].

have fun
