Ok, I have the impression that IRL cars are subject to a lot of rules and regulations, kind of like NASCAR, in an attempt to even the playing field. And it seems to me that F1 cars are not so much restricted when it comes to technology and crap.

Am I correct here?

Can you believe it? I'm a big MS/Ferrari fan, but damn I have to give Jenson props! Great drive! I'm actually glad to see Honda win one since they put a butt load of money into F1 and usually have mediocre results!

How would that have prevented Alonso's wheel man from not getting the nut on? How would that have prevented Schumi from getting in a tussle in traffic after it finally dried out enough for the Bridgestones to work?

Remember Button started 14th on the grid due to the engine swap, so he was right by Alonso (15th) & Schumi(11th) at the start.

True.

Ferrari, although rare, couldn't have predicted the steering failure. I'm sure Schumi's over aggressive driving with De la Rossa didn't help limp the car home. I'm sure his ego consumed him to get as many points as he could with Alonso out.

Alonso, switched to dry tires too soon as I'm sure Alonso was dying to beat MS. Ferrari is probably kicking themselves in the ass for not capitalising on Renaults DNFs. I wonder who made the call to stay with intermediate tires for the last part of the race?
