SO I went out to my car this morning, was gonna drive it to Rousch to have them check the light. Started puring snow the moment I walked outside, lol. BUt I think there may not be a need. I flipped open my gas lid and low and behold the cap was cocked kinda sidways on the nozzle, don't remember it being that way when I last got gas (corse that was months ago). So i fixed the cap so that it is on perfectly. Question 1 is it possible for the light to have just come on now when its been like that for the last 150 miles. And two, the light didnt go off. Do I need to reset it to see if the gas cap fixed the problem. Thanks again in advance for the help.

The light won't go off until you (A) clear codes while the ECU is in serivce mode or (B) you pull the negative battery terminal. It now sounds it is most likely the cap that is the culprit, but it still might be a good idea to pull codes before clearing just to be safe. That's the right thing to do. I myself am impatient, and would probably just pull the negative battery terminal without checking considering what you found.
