ok, I have been reading about the car. Well, there are laundry list of things to look for when buying E36 M3 with more than 75k miles.
Well, so far I am not fully convinced that it would be a good route for me. While I am curious as to what can be done to make the car handle as good as or better than S2000?

Grassroot Motorsport magazin has been running special articles about buying, fixing and tunning 95 M3 coupe. And I am some what intrigued. They are claiming that their project car yielded same lap time as Lotus Elise.

Anyways, Jeremy, what did you do to your M3? Also, what is the biggest difference between M3 and S2000 at the track? What did you like about the car and what didn't you like?

Depends on your definition of handle as good. Don't get me wrong, I loved my M3. I would have kept it forever if I could bought another car without selling it, but there are a lot of cars that I want to own and time is a wasting. The M3 is one sweet combination, however the immediacy of the S2000 steering response and the feedback you get in the corners at the track was were the S2000 is just unbelievable You can never get the steering response of the S2000 (or Elise) on a M3. I don't think the Z06 handles as good as the M3 (from a feeling perspective), but it's got a lot more grip due to the tire size and then there that 405hp. I was always just a little disappointed in the stock M3 brakes. The S2000 has the best I've driven. Z06 is good but not as much pedal feel as the S2. I also looked at getting a 993 (nice but dated power levels, my favorite body style), and a E46M3 - didn't care for the character of the motor (always sounded like it was about to blow up).

Here's my ad from when the car was for sale (for mods & such). BTW, I sold my car for 19k in 4 minutes after posting it. Guess I should have asked for more.
