Default Driving schools in ohio

Hey All,

So I finally picked an S up a few months ago. I thought i was hot shit and kinda dinged it up. I spun in the rain & hit a curb kinda hard. 100% my fault. Its okay now (I paid out of pocket to fix it, I won't be responsible for raising others insurance rates) but now I realize I am not a very good driver. I used to think "sure I've drive rear-wheel drive most of my life (uh, volvo) I'll be cool", but now I realize I need some lessons to be able to fully enjoy my S.
So, I was hoping someone might be able to recommend a good driving class here in Ohio (preferably near Columbus). I figured mid-Ohio has some, but I thought I would reach out for some recommendations. Please let me know if you have had and good (or bad) experiences with any particular driving classes/schools.

By the way, this is my daily driver so I am doing this for everyone elses safety as well as my personal enjoyment

Also, for you daily drivers, when do you generally switch from your summer tires to winter tires? October? November? First snow?

Thanks everyone!!
Doug

I always switch in October, (first year with my S too though)

even if there isn't going to be snow for about a month.. when that first week of snow is coming the tire place will be slammed. So save yourself some time and get the snows put on early.

Bring it out to the next autocross, Aug 20. Here's the info:

Unfortunately, I won't be there, or I'd tell you to come find me. Make sure you tell them you're a novice when you sign in, and they'll tell you who to talk to.

doug-

you really need to check out skip barber....I don't think they have one in Ohio, but there one day school is the best for learning the ropes on RWD, it has saved my life many times. It's well worth the trip.

Graduate and continuing education with Skip Barber here. They do events at Mid-Ohio, this is a great place to get wet!

Doug,

This topic has come up before and you could probably search on "Driving School" to find the discussion.

There are a few of us that have done the Mid Ohio Driving School, great instruction and great track. You can use your own car if you like, but I'd recommend using their cars. The lessons learned can transfer to any car you drive, fwd, rwd or awd. I'd recommend doing the three day high performance course that includes a lapping day.

If you looking to spend less then, try coming to an HPDE (High Performance Driver Education) event put on by NASA, TracQuest, or Redline. You will learn a lot in any case.

There is a NASA track event this weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) at Mid Ohio and I believe there are still spots open. I will be there on Sunday.

Feel free to PM to discuss.

Just a reminder, if anyone is interested, Jeremy Lucas and I will be at Mid Ohio tomorrow with the NASA event. Feel free to stop by and hang out.

Later, GB.
