Damn, I miss Champ Car!
Formula 1 will be entertaining as always, but I miss watching the cars I grew up dreaming about! IRL just pisses me off this year and give me back my Cleveland GP! The scrapped Panos chassis that were all that a bag o'chips are being auctioned off and set to rest after one year! The wrong car and format was chosen and now we just have another friggen NASCAR type series! The last couple years the series was struggling with all the drivers and sponsers jumping the fences, but I still enjoyed the heck out of it. My memories of a striving CART and Champ will always be fond. I hope the Indy series evolves into something that resembles the beast (CART) it used to be, PLEASE!
RIP Champ Car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just my little vent, I don't feel better yet

Rule changes are in store for 2010. IRL likes the one tire manufacturer idea, but is open to using two compounds. They want other engine manufactures to be involved. I can't remember if they want to get more than one chassis manf or not......
Lanigan agreed to to the merger deal if he can get Cleveland back onto the schedule for 2009.

The rule changes can not come soon enough, now we just need to spark the big boys!

Face it Jon, champ car was bankrupt. This is the only solution. Cleveland will be back, give it some time. I miss the turbo V8 too. Hopefully there will be another engine manufacturer on board too. The crowd at Indy was freaking huge, so I think it is safe to say the interest in open wheel racing is on the rebound.
Think of it like this, with the price of fuel, lower displacement is bound to be in the cards. Turbo-charging becomes an even more likely option.

Right now I'm enjoying ALMS and the IRL since we can't get FIA Rally anymore

Btw... I know Cleveland was a great event, but I enjoy seeing the cars at Mid Ohio. For me, I can only attend so many races a year... to be able to enjoy ALMS and Indy cars on the same weekend is a win-win in my book.
Just my $.02..I hope they keep both events though... I'd hate to see Mid Ohio lose the race.
