Default Curious....but the shifter....it's hot.....

Just curious since I just got back from a long trip, but I know the shifter was in the sun before leaving, but damn the shifter didn't cool down at all and was hot to the touch the whole way home.

Is heat being transferred from the tranny and engine or what? But the shifter was pretty warm to the touch.

it's metal and in sunlight, it'll get hot in the summer and freezing in the winter....not too sure about previous models owner's manual, but i stumbled over it in the 06 stating that "caution, shift knob will be warm to touch in the summer"

I would say it would be a combination of all of those. I drove that car to Cincinnati and the transmission tunnel stayed warm the whole way. Just be thankful you have an 02 instead of an 00-01 with no leather on the shift knob.

With my vented hood and the bumper vents opened up, my trans tunnel stays cooler as well as the area by my feet.
