8900 mile check up on the S
Had some work done and here is what I noticed. Ganley did the work and thanks to Hardtopguy for the ATE Super Blue brake fluid!
Had the Mobil 1 diff fluid changed to the LE stuff. No metal/chunks on the drain plug. Diff seems to be more quite, but this may be my imagination. Even though my brake fluid only had 8900 miles on it, it had been boiled a couple times with almost complete fade. The ATE feels better than new with a nice firm pedal again.
Valve adjustment. My S had always sounded like a diesel when in the garage and had been getting noisier over the past couple thousand miles. Bob, the tech who worked on my S, said the exhaust were ok but on the loose side of spec. Two of the intake valves were just out of spec and the others were all on the loose side just as the exhaust. All of the retainers from what we could see of them looked good also. Bob asked me if I wanted them set to the tightest setting. (.008 for the intake and .010 for the exhaust) I said yes since this would make the valves open to their fullest. Bob also had the perfect feelers for this and I need to find a set for myself! The car is now quite at idle for the first time since I have owned it. The car now pulls harder than it did before. Right Joe
Also had an oil change and the drivers window regulator changed for the auto down problem.
Also, I finally got caught in the rain This car has some weird dynamics in a monsoon rain. Note, the front tires have less than half tread left and the rears are almost at the wear bars. Not having the wipers on was no problem either, just ask Joe. On the way back we had some light rain with the top down. Now what else can happen to my S? Well, my wife and I had coffee in it this morning! So I guess it's now broken in huh.

Haha, you call that a monsoon rain??? It really wasn't all that bad, but the car sure does get touchy in the rain. As to the no wipers, well, we survived, but I'm not sure that I'd say it was "no problem". Let's not encourage the kids to go try this at home, okay?
Seriously, it was a fun trip and Jeff took great care of us as always. I've already changed out my transmission oil and put in the GM Syncromesh FM that Jeff sold me and so far I am very happy with it. We'll see how it holds up over this weekend at The Dragon!
