Default 600-HP Super-Vette in the works

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/12/lutz-co...e-in-the-works/

This thing will be a monster and I want one! It needs bigger stripe for all the championships ! I am sure the 09' model will look a little more agressive, but as long as it shows I am happy!

Enjoy!

Chevy has to keep up with the 600hp Z06-killer Viper that just came out. I like this competition between Chevy and Dodge, it's making for some killer cars at affordable prices. I'm still waiting on Ford to enter the fray, because the new 500hp Mustang isn't in the same class as the Vette or Viper, and the Ford GT costs $150,000.

we have all known about this car ever since the Z06 arrived. I am just glad that it is coming. They really have no need to pop it out now concidering the current Z06 is drool worthy and chevy is selling every one they produce without any discounts.

Ford stopped making the Ford GT last year (2006).

We'll have to wait for the Shelby GR-1 coupe (based on the Shelby Daytona couple of the 60's). The concept has a 6.4L V-10 putting out 600+ HP.

A buddy of mine is a designer at Ford. He nearly put a dent in the GR-1 clay as they were rolling it down the hallway. He came out of his studio and opened the door almost right into it! That clay is like 250K worth of materials and labor.

GM forgot the interior in the Vette, for racing purposes I'd drive the vette, otherwise I won't own one until the quality becomes better than that of a cavalier!!

The new Z06 is faster than the GT too!!

My friend has an 07 Z06. The interior isn't that bad. It's very minimalist, but that has always been the style of Corvettes. I don't really care about the interior, that thing is fast as hell.

30,000 for 95 horsepower seems a bit much to me. I know they are suppose to make it lighter but I think this power and weight could be acheived under for under $30,000 if one just purchases a Z06 and does the work themselves. My uncle said all you have to do is put heads, headers, exhuast, and possibly a cam and the current Z06 will push many more ponies. (My unlce runs a 427 pushing 600 hp in a 2000 pound 74' porsche 911 turbo) Can you say wheel spin at 140 shifting from 3rd to 4th..

it's all about "factory" mods.

Case-in-point - if Porsche had built a turbo Cayman, it would be the best Porsche ever made for under $100k, and they would sell every single one of them, no matter how many they made. However, any schmuck can do either a 3.8 conversion or a turbo package aftermarket on a Cayman S, for less than the factory would sell them for...but people don't, even though that would be a better car than the GT3 RS, for much much less. Same thing with the Z06 SS. It's about marketing!!

Yeah I guess your right, also you would keep the factory warranty. I think Lingenfelders stuff or however you spell it keep the factory warranty too. I dont know the marketing is def right. Just trying to make the vette look superior to the other American Supercars.
