Detroit Idea:
Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise
What I'm thinking for this long weekend event...
Plan meeting in Dearborn on Friday AM, staying at the Hyatt Regency**, which is walking distance to a huge Mall, a movie Theatre and many Restaurants. This hotel is about 10 miles from Woodward Avenue and right next to the Ford Museum and Ford Headquarters.
Friday, during the day, take the tour of The Henry Ford Museum, The Rouge Factory, and The Historic Greefield Village or for those not interested, as mentioned, there is a shopping Mall and movie Theatre next to the Hotel. The tours would take all day. Friday night meet up for dinner then cruise around Dearborn, Detroit and along the Lake, checking out all the incredible rides (and believe me there are TONS! - about 30,000 vehicles are usually expected in the area during that weekend).
Saturday, would be all about Woodward Avenue.
During the day, we would hit the avenue and explore, as a group or separately. There are numerous car shows and displays setup along the street. You can spend all day, if you want, checking out all the vehicles (there are specific areas to go to, to see specific cars (e.g. Mustang Alley, Corvette Alley, etc.). We could plan to meet for lunch during the day. Saturday night, before departing for the cruise, we would clean up at the Hotel, have dinner at one of the restaurants next to the Hotel. Then, we take a spirited 15 minute drive back over to Woodward Avenue. We could find a place to park so that some of can us watch the action, while others can participate.
Sunday, eat breakfast, say good byes and depart back home.
** We may have to block off some rooms well in advance if we are serious about this.

Couple other ideas in the planning stages for the rest of the midwest.
First, FWT will probably be late May or early June. Urmil (Luder94) and Kallan (HuskerGirl) are taking the lead in planning this year.
Second, for anyone interested old cars, there's plans of a tour of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg museum in Auburn, IN (which is about 20 minutes north of Fort Fun and about 3 hours from Columbus or Cleveland) followed by a BBQ at either my pad or Mike Cox's pad. May 6.
Third, a few people are discussing doing the Lake Superior circle tour, probably in August. This will be a ~1 week trip all the way around the big pond.
