The term has a functional connotation to it. Just b/c some vendor names his part a diffuser does not mean it is a diffuser. It is called marketing. What you have is an aesthetic piece of carbon or frp attached to your bumper. No offense.

we tune our cars for function. the function is to make it perform better. Diffusers are made to perform better in its aerodynamics.

I can FINALLY contribute to this thread! I recently purchased a CF APR diffuser from a fellow member here, and installed it today. Very happy with the fitment, and the way it looks!

There's no more than a 1/8" gap between the black piece and the diffuser (Edit - hm, maybe we're talking about two different places - i see what you mean).
