I guess ASM had the US market in mind when they made the bumper. Many of the JDM rear bumpers require removal of the USDM-spec rebar b/c it's too thick. The JDM-spec rebar is thinner.
Tom,there is no rear bar(bumper beam) at all on the Japanese model S2000.
There's just a little bracket for the tow hook and bracket for the license plate.
The same goes goes for all Japanese market Hondas.
With that said what method did you decide to use to mount your license plate on your Mugen SS rear bumper?

It's been awhile so I can't remember the details: I used some kind of clip (forgot what) that allowed me to attach the plate to the bumper in 2 different places (but can't remember if I did this for the SS front or SS rear)

When I got it repainted, the body shop drilled a hole into the bumper to line up the plate to the bumper

Either way, the plate is attached from the bottom and top is free-floating.

I toyed with the idea of modifying the bumper beam so it'll fit, but too lazy
