i don't understand, your 18x10.5+50, he's at 17x10+30. If he moved that setup to 10.5 it would be +23.6 offset. (if his rear lip is 3.5)
http://stu.taylor-net.co.uk/tools/offset <-- i used 3.5 and 6.5 give or take, looks like 3.5" in that picture he posted.
and i believe you missed the point, i had the same setup as the post above you but my point is how do you know he doesn't want to run -4 degrees camber? some people prefer more stretch over camber.
think about it, what's worst? beefy tire running on completely sidewall? or stretched but isn't riding on sidewall. (functional guys will think there both retarded) I personally went through this dilemma with my SSR setup and came to the conclusion if I ran any larger of a tire it would just eat more away into my rear bumper and ruin the body line. ( I am also on 14kg swift springs, still rubbed on hard bumps )
Also, with a bigger tire, it can prevent you from slamming the car without more negative camber. It will be harder to tuck.
I don't think he should go with a bigger tire.
He would look like this if he ran a bigger tire and same camber.
i'm just saying, people are jumping to conclusions to soon and you can't compare your setup to his it's like saying "i run 255/40/17 on my 17x9+45 setup. you should be able to run 265/40/17 on your 17x10+0 setup" it's not the same thing. disk sizes, barrel sizes, all that takes into account.
** Cliff: there isnt THAT much room left for a larger tire, you guys are exaggerating a bit. for all we know he might want to dial in more positive camber **

FWIW... I don't think I could run any wider than the 215 235 combo without drastically modifying the lines of the car or raising it.
Im changing to 225 40 Pirelli and 265 35 pirelli but also going shine over fenders on the rear. Roads in the UK aren't great and ive had a few hairy moments in the wet. Now im going turbo ive decided a small lift, over fenders and to remove a bit of camber. sould hopefully still have a nice stance, a little stretch, just be a lot more functional for grip.
215 on a 9.5 rim just leaves a little bit more rim exposed due to the tretch than id like, im hoping the slightly taller and wider setup will get rid of most of this.
Also, My current setup rarely touched, only on a really rough pot hole that I wasn't able to avoid in time LOL!

I'm not sure if your reading anything thoroughly but his posts mentions he's running a 235 setup right now, plans to go with 255 with a wide body.
Not trying to offend you or anything but if you assumed a 255 would clear with bobkennedys stock body, it shows your judgement is kinda off. Again no intentions to piss anyone off here just trying to clear up misleading information here. I don't want him to go out and buy a bigger tire and then rub his bumper and paint away because he listened to the wrong forum members. Happened to me a dozen times and I had to learn the hard way.
"Go bigger tires they said, it won't rub they said" and then I find my bumper chewed up, -5 degrees camber, riding on sidewall, burn marks on my quarter panel, can't have any passenger or it will rub, have to wait for a camber kit, car won't go up any higher cus the natural negative camber sets the car lower, spending hours adjusting my height to 4x4 so I won't rub until my second set of new tires come, and now I have to sell my other set of tires on craigslist and lose money and time. All because a few members said I could run a larger tire. True story. You can see why it's pretty frustrating when members give out the wrong information when using bad judgement.
I'm 100% positive he can run more tire without rubbing. I'm not claiming he can run 255, however I am saying he could fairly easily run a 235 with the exact same setup he currently has. My judgement on BobKennedy's car isnt off either. I have minimal room between my quarters and tire. That is the only comparison I'm making here. If he wants to widebody it and bring his camber out then thats fine but it doesnt mean he couldnt run a 255 on that car without it. I could run a 275 on my car fairly easily. It just requires more camber, which is what I was assuming BK was going to do.
