I don't think there is any "purpose" besides aesthetics. This is the first time I have done anything like this. My car was down for almost 2 months anyway, so I figured I might as well try doing a tuck. Yes it could be a b*tch if there are any electrical issues down the road. For me, I only put about 3-4K miles on the car a year and I enter a few shows throughout the summer so I figured it was worth the effort.
