You also need to step up to an 18" wheel to run a 285/295 while still keeping the origional OD of the tire. 18's are heavier than 17's and tires cost a ton more.

The more rubber you have, the longer it takes to get the tires warm, with a car as light as the s2000 that's not a good thing.

255/40-17 is an oem Porsche tire size, which means you performance tire selection is huge, and priced reasonably.

There's a few pros and cons right off the top of my head
Not sure if I agree with everything you said.

Non-staggered makes the car much more predictable at the limit (less steering input) so long as the setup is right. Ferrari and Porsche both run non-stag in their GT2 class cars.

Given the same wheel/tire width (Volk for example), the wheel is about a pound heavier (18's), but the tire is also about a pound lighter. There is less air mass as well, so the overall weight tends to be a wash. I prefer to have a slightly heavier wheel and lighter tire than the opposite (closer to the center).

This is probably a socal thing, but we have no problem bringing our tires to temp, more the problem is them overheating and falling off. In autox doesn't seem to be an issue as well, when you look at all the national level BSP guys are running 289/295 tires with NA power.

True but I'm doing the impossible... Possible
who runs 9.5+38 in the front n still able to to 225-45-17???
Or 18x10+38 with 255-35-18 on the rears??

its not that impossible, im running a 255/40-17 on a 17x9.5 +38 all around

still doesnt matter... post that in the hella-flush thread... this thread is for wheel/tire setups where the tire is on the recommended wheel size and the sidewall sits flat, not angled

now if you had a 255/40-17 up front and a 265/35-18 in the rear, then it would be appropriate for this thread
