Give the guy a break, he wasn't necessarily talking about track performance. 255 on a 10 inch rim IS indeed a bit of a stretch, a 275 would seem more "proper" as far as tire sizes go, since people run 255s on 9 inch rims all the time.

Possibly, but it doesn't work as well as a 275 on a 10" wheel. And it looks dumb. Round this thread we roll tires that fit.

A 255 fits a 10" wheel just fine, it's recommended by the manufacturers.

"Below is a quick reference chart listing each Yokohama tire size and the acceptable rim widths for that size. Choosing a wheel near the middle of the range will give a balance between ride quality and handling. A wider wheel will improve handling at the expense of ride quality, while a narrower wheel will improve ride quality at the expense of handling. Consider these compromises when selecting wheels."

Per Yokohama.. Range for a 255 tire is 8.5-10.

And a 275 works fine on a 10" wheel, but works better on an 11" wheel.

Believe what you want, I've done my research and know what I'm running but before you go talking about around here we use tires that fit, make sure you know what you're talking about.

It's funny you say that, because in the race forum we rock what works, not what looks dumb or not. The gallery folk should venture to the R&C forum, or better yet get some seat time and do some testing before giving "advice" on what works in theory, rather than what is proven to work.

1.) **THIS** is the fat tires/ non stagger thread. Take your stretchy doody hole, stretchy tire nonsense elsewhere.

2.) You may be right that a 255 works better on a 10 than a 9, but it still doesn't work as well as a 275 on a 10. Period. Unless you have a max tire width for your class, there is no reason to run a narrow tire on a wide wheel when a wide tire will work better.

3.) Do no speak of what you do not know:

I do know what I'm talking about, I'm not the one that keeps saying a 255 doesn't fit a 10" wheel or that it's stretched. Fact of the matter is that not only does it fit, but it's within manifacturers guidelines for fitting. A 255 star spec has a section width of 10.8" on a 10" wheel... That's not a fat tire?? A 255 on a 10.5 would be a stretch. These actual facts trump your opinion of what fits and what belongs in this thread.

No one is saying you're wrong that a 275 would be better. But you are wrong about A 255 on a 10 looking dumb and being stretched.

And I haven't attacked anyone, my posts get the facts across without having to say anything is "dumb" and without referring to "stretchy doody holes"

Perhaps you should get off your high horse and just chill out, this is a community of s2000 enthusiats, we're all on the same page here.
