9.5+38 on 255/40 ZII - I have been set at F.2.0 and R 3.0 - no rubbing at all...w/ cut fender lip and tab relocated..custom fender work in the front to add about an inch to the OEM fender. Honestly I would be reluctant to run anymore than 3.0 in the rear...anything more than that might be too much, not look right and probably have ill effects on your handling.

Probably my last outing on the R888's. I thought they were in better shape after rotating them but they're pretty well cooked.
After doing some research I am going to try a set of 265/40-17 Bridgestone RE760. That way I wont die driving through a puddle lol.
Just got my exhaust on too.
17X10 +45, Toyo R888 255/40-17.
Camber is -2* front and -3* rear. All fenders rolled flat, fronts slightly flared.

Looks good BB ! I'm glad I decided to not get R888's, they are just to baller and wear way way too fast. 265/40 is going to look proper as hell. I saw the section width on them from TR looks like 10.7" you're going to need a little bit more clearance. It looks like it will rub. Good luck w/ your new set-up and post pics ASAP of the 265's.

I'm having second thoughts on the 265/40, as I look at them more the sidewall looks too thick/tall as that size runs taller than the 255/40.
The R888 in 255/40 has a section width of 10.4". ZII Star Specs are 10.3" and have a 200 tread wear and aren't $400 a tire lol. AD08's run wide too but Tire Rack lists them as 10.3" wide also. RS-3's are listed as 10.2". The ZII Star Specs are supposed to do decent in the rain and they don't look like all seasons so I might give those a shot.
I wish someone had a pic of the AD08's in 255/40 on a 10" wide wheel. This is the worst thing about running the 17x10 wheel set up, tire size. If I were to do it again I'd probably get Amuse spec CE28 (17X9 +40) and run 255's on those.

I kinda don't understand why everyone hates the very slight stretch of the 255 on 10j. It's pretty much perfect, as it allows less sidewall deflection and better steering response. It's just like the Miata guys that run 225s on 9j all day long, except in this case it's even less stretch.
KBB, I think either the Z2 or the AD08 would basically be perfect. It might be ever so slightly less square, but at least they'd last much longer than the R888 (along with making your trips in the rain feel much less harrowing.)
