mastermind found them actually. i told them i was looking for a rega square set up and this was the closest they had.
initially i wanted 10+40 square but i realized i wanted additional fender clearance. kinda just fell into my lap lucky i guess.

I think they are either one-offs that they made for one of the racing teams they sponsored or someone took 16's and modified them. But I don't think someone would take the time to use the same font for the stamps but I don't know why Desmond would make them look like 16's and why they would make a custom 17x9 +40 when they have +38 already. Also why would they make a custom 17x10 +40 when they already make that size? If you have a scale I would weigh them, that way you can at least make sure they aren't fakes. The 17x9's should be around 16.5 lbs and the 17x10 should be around 18 lbs.
Another thing I noticed is that the hub is machined the same way 16's are. The back of the hub should be totally flat on 17's and you can tell from the pictures you posted that they are not. Even the lip looks flat like the 16's and not concave like the 17's. Everything about the wheels say 16 inch.

i was waiting for you to chime in jeff. i figured out the style and stamping were from the 16's.... still believe they are prototypes before they cut material to save weight

weight wise, just confirmed with my freight forwarder that the total weight of the boxes were 71 lbs (35.5 lbs with 9/10 in a box)
interesting, 16" characteristics but a 17" nonetheless

How hard is it to fit a 17x10+40 in the rear with being lowered only 1.25 inches?
Oh and insight on fitting these specs too please
18x9.5 +45 all around
Or
18x9.5, 18x10.5 +45
Pic of my car to make the post not so boring

shouldn't be to hard with your drop. here is my03 with 10+30 on a 265. 255 would probably fit better.
