A few years back me and some buddies were driving down to Indiana one evening to do a little gambling,I was driving the S with a buddy behind the rest of them, were driving down this 4 lane highway for 2.5 miles with this dude in a F-150 within 2 car lengths behind me,finally my buddy winged a Taco Bell bean burrito at them....nailed the passengers side of the windshield,we took off as we saw him pull-off the side of the highway to clean it off.

A little over 30 years ago I was driving home in the slow lane of the freeway at about 1:00 in the morning in a 911S. There was nobody else on the freeway excpet for me and some idiot who decided to tailgate me. I was too tired to mess about, so I just took it out of gear and coasted.

I got down to 15 mph before he changed lanes and went around me.

Weird.

I personally use the slow down method, just because it's not worth getting aggressive. Too many crazies on the road with weapons or who will try to damage your car by throwing something at it.
Of course, you're assuming that after they hit you they stop. If someone is angry enough to tailgate and then hit you, why do they want to stick around after they've spun you off the road?

If the freeway has multiple lanes, I move over right one lane. If that fails, or is not available, I simply tap on the brakes enough for them to notice. I don't downshift or anything like that, I'm not trying to get my car rear-ended. Having to visit a body shop, car rental, insurance paperwork, and the possibility of injury is too much to want to get rear ended anyway.

The annoying thing is that I've had a tailgater follow me for multiple lanes and this was after I changed to the rightmost lane.

If I have someone tailgating me and there is a lane to my right, I move over because i'm obstructing the flow of traffic and I am obviously in the wrong lane (If the guy behind me wants to do 90 and i'm blocking him I am the asshole, not him) If i'm in the right lane I just ease off gradually until they back off.

My issue is with all the ninnies that go exactly 65 in the fast lane or carpool lane like they are the friggin speed limit police. Get the F*ck out of the way. There are 4 other lanes on the freeway you can go the speed limit in, don't be holding up the fast/passing lane.
