Default Wrongfully accused of speeding

I just want to keep things simple and short

This was on a 4-5 lane highway in Houston, TX.

There was moderate traffic and cars beside/in front/behind me

Speed limit is 65 and I was going 65 on the dot.

Eventually I saw the cop on the side of the road and immediately looked at my speedometer and of course it showed 65 so I wasn't worried.

Seconds later, he pulls up behind me and turns on lights.

Not sure if this bit of info helps or not but I was driving a burgundy 1998 Toyota Corolla

He walks up and tells me I was going 75 in a 65

I explain my side of the story, bam bam bam, ticket written, and its over.

I was in Houston on vacation and am from Baton Rouge, LA

What options do I have?

Thanks in advance!

You're pretty much screwed. If you were local, you could go to court and argue (most likely would lose anyway, since a cop's words vs. yours), but you're from far away, so...screwed. Only 3 options you have: 1) Go to court in Houston; 2) Write them a letter to explain (but useless anyway); 3) Pay the fine and get it over with.

you can hire a traffic attorney from the area to represent you, and you won't have to show up ... I think.

...but that'll cost you more than the ticket.

Not so much the ticket cost, but the cost in the rise of your insurance rates.

Advice--hire a 'ticket clinic' type lawyer.

Lol I just fought a ticket and won.

I was innocent as well.

Long story short. 2001 s2000 with invidia duals and TP
Front line at stoplight. turned green and i took 1st all the way to redline and 2nd to speed limit and shut down to cruise.
1/2 mile away i get 2 amber lights speeding up to my ass and then he sat on it. Pulled me over 1/2 mile after that.
Asked how fast i was going, I asked him what he got me on radar
he admitted to not using
Estimated my speed 19 mph over limit and gave me ticket.
went to write ticket in car and I called a buddy of mine and parents to explain the situation and if i have a chance at fighting it.
everyone said "his word against yours"
Cruiser cam doesn't lie though.
I wrote a 4 page recollection of that incident the next day.
Month later I requested bench trial and subpoena'd the cruiser audio and video of the incident.

Had court a few days ago... Ticket was dropped and license back in my hands.

As far as getting a lawyer, i'd suggest it if you are not confident enough and cant gather evidence to your innocence.

That's impressive!
Even more interesting is that dumbo admitted to not using radar on camera! You've just given me another tool and tactic to use if that ever happens to me!
Thanks

Good one imnida! I always ask to show the gun if I am pulled over for speeding. If they don't show it to you or admit to jot using it you can fight it and have a good chance of winning.

When I my S I had a similar experience but didn't get a ticket. Had the T1R 70mm single on with their header and a TP, gunned it in 3rd to merge on the highway and an unmarked cop was about 4 cars behind already on the highway, heard me gun it and swerved in and out of traffic to catch up to me. At first I thought it was some POS cavalier trying to race me lol. Turned his lights on I pulled over and he said, "I was pasing you going about 82mph." I replied, "Uh, I don't think so, I know I wasn't exceeding 70mph. My car sounds a lot faster than it really is." He says, "Oh ok." Comes back with a warning hahah
