My team members get in between 10-12am. I have been working about 7-4. For the first 2-3 hours, the office is a ghost-town. I have the longest commute and am trying to tweek my hours to minimize the insanity caused by 110 mins/day in traffic!

I guess the answer depends if you're the employer or employee.

In my opinion, getting to work late is worse. I used to show up late to my job, and heard about it all the time. But when I was leaving early no one seemed to care/notice. BTW I wasn't doing both at the same time.

I'd say it's worse to be late.

Arriving late = laziness or poor time management (perceived)
Leaving early = hard worker or good time management or loved by the boss (perceived)

Arriving late = bad.
Leaving early = flexing off ; which interpets as if there is low work load people have the option of leaving early and not getting paid for the missing time.
