koreans use "~" on the internet to show affection & friendliness (i think), for example 'how are you~ ^^'

i wonder if any other nationalities use ~ ??

I have a lot of non-asian friends that use the symbology to express their feelings when they're chatting via aim. I think it's a so-so way to express feeling -- just don't abuse it because it can become a little hard to read. Not to mention annoying.
