koreans use "~" on the internet to show affection & friendliness (i think), for example 'how are you~ ^^'

i wonder if any other nationalities use ~ ??

i'd say that applies to asian folks in general, not just koreans

 

I don't use ~, but I use

 

japanese, chinese.

 

My girl who is half Japaneese/half American uses those.

I have a lot of non-asian friends that use the symbology to express their feelings when they're chatting via aim. I think it's a so-so way to express feeling -- just don't abuse it because it can become a little hard to read. Not to mention annoying.
