Anyone? I'm watching the Indy race at Miami on ABC, and in a couple of hours, CART's Toyota GP. I look at the cars, and I don't see much of a difference except maybe the CART's cars are longer.

Thanks.

Cart is Indy. I think were you might be getting a little confused is that as of the last few years there has been another series called the Indy Racing League ( IRL ) based mostly on the fact that for a couple of years ( I think ) cart couldn't race the Indy 500.
Just so its clear Cart drivers include Paul Tracy, Guigelman, Moreno, Etc. Kenny Brack went from the IRL to Cart ( considered a step up IMO ) likewise Villeneuve went from Cart to F1 ( a big step up again )
The cars may look simialar but the are very differnt in terms of power, handling, and support.

Hope this helps

Mike

More better...CART (Championship Auto Racing Team) was Indy. The IRL (Indy Racing League) split off a few years ago when a bunch of high dollar cry babies couldn't qualify their cars at Indy.

So in terms of power and technology, is it ok to say:

3. IRL
2. CART
1. F1

??

IIRC, IRL almost exclusivly turns left, kinda like open-wheeled Winston Cup.

You got it Mingster, You could slot Indy lights in spot number 4 if you like.
Utah, You're right, I still say Cart is indy though, always was, always will be. I just can't stand IRL. You don't see action like we did today in Cart with that "other" league

As for power it's

1. CART
2. F1
3. IRL

CART cars have turbocharged 2.65 litre V8 making around 900HP

F1 cars have the most advanced engine but they are naturally aspirated 3.0 V10, and make maximum of around 800 HP. This year they allow electronic driver aids like traction control. They also have carbon disk brakes which are outlawed in CART.

IRL cars use production V8 engine block and displaces 3.5 litre I think and makes 650 HP with rev limit of 10,700.

IRL races only on ovals.
IRL has has only 2 approved engines (at this time) Infiniti and Oldsmobile.
IRL has only 2 or 3 approved chassis.
IRL is run by an arrogant annoying man.

Cart races on all types of circuits, oval, road and street.
They allow any engine builder that meets the criteria above.
Cart's regulations on chassis are less stringent.
Cart does not have Tony George at the helm .
Cart does not race at Indianapolis because of Tony George.
And the reason why Cart is better, because Honda is the number one engine for the past four years . (OK so the drivers are a little better too).
