There's no expectation of privacy in public.

In addition, some states require only one-party notification for recording of phone conversations.

when the cop walks up to the car, already have the recorder out, click record and set it on the dash. that way he's quite aware of it. Nothing illegal about that.

rwone, good analysis but i think it may be off a bit by comparing the 1320 time you posted against the blue line? maybe just hard to tell w/o a grid, but I think the cop accelerates faster than your chart.

i understand it wasn't acceleration...my point was that it didn't look like it was at 1320 feet when the time was 16.xx seconds as you reported earlier in the thread.

If you don't mind me asking, are you leaving something out of this story?

What did you say to the cop to piss him off so much that he decided to screw you? This is definitely not standard procedure. It's so blatantly incorrect, that I have to wonder if you gave him some attitude when he pulled you over.

i think a quick cheap way for most of us to pull this kind of recording off would be to whip out the cell phone and call yourself. That way when your voicemail picks up and starts recording, you're set. It works cause the phone is in plain sight but he'll never know it's recorded.

Legal?? I think it might be.

Also i drive a crown vic, and although it's only a 93, it'll surely do better than 118mph
