You don't have anyone in front of you. Yeah, you'd think this one would be obvious. If no one is directly in front of you in the left lane, that means you aren't going fast enough.

The lane to your right is open. Left lane is for passing folks, if you don't see a car to your right, you probably should be getting over. I don't care if you think 72 is good enough for anyone (it isn't) you should still be courteous for the people who want to go faster and get out of the way.
No one is in front of me because I haven't caught up to them yet. In a few more seconds, I'll be honking at the guy to get over in the right lane.

Both lanes are for passing, at least where I come from. I'm a left lane driver because 99% of the time I spend on the highway, I drive fast enough no one gets on my tail. Even if you hog the left lane and the right lane is open, I don't get angry that I have to drive around.

I also hope to have the motor functions to drive like this when im 80 =)

Where do you come from? In Texas, it may be acceptable to pass in both lanes, but the left lane is for passing only... so in other words, if you're in the left lane and you're getting passed, you're breaking the law. Also, if you're in the left lane and you're not passing someone else, you're breaking the law. AFAIK, this only applies to freeways, though.

It's not a cruising lane, it's a passing lane. I don't care how fast you're going, when you complete your pass, you need to get back in the right-hand lane.

our slowest highways are 60mph, but most are marked at 65mph. outside the cities, it gets up to 70mph, and out in west texas, it gets up to 80mph.
As if we don't go 80-85 mph in the left lane in Dallas (60 mph, but you form a wolf pack in the left lane and go 80)
But even if you go 80, the HoV lane is going one step faster at 85 haha
And mxt we use the left lane to go 80 mph. People don't have a clue about merging so the right lane always goes like 50 mph and then they try to get over the the middle >.<.(So yeah in conclusion, we stick together and keep passing everyone, and we starting moving right once we get near our exits. I rarely see anyone jump in and out of the left lane because of traffic here in dallas)
I only see a cop on our highways about once every 25+ miles 0_o. They like to stay in the city.

"Driving a Prius" is missing from your list.
Those should not be allowed on highways anyway.

honorable mention:

You're hypermilling. If you're doing this at all, you shouldn't be on the highway and you probably shouldn't own a car or have a license. If you're doing this in the left lane, you need your license revoked and you need to be punched in the face repeatedly.

No really, I was behind a prius doing this on the highway just a few weeks ago. Going sooooo slow in the left lane i was like what the hell is this guy smoking... I finally pass him on the right.... and he speeds up and gets on MY bumper.... then all of a sudden drops back.. slow, slow, slow... After that he didn't catch up. definition of a$$hat.
If you have ever checked their website.... 99% of their "techniques" are super dangerous and illegal. They should be beaten to within an inch of their lives, given blood transfusions and beaten again.

yeah, 65mph automatically means you can get away with 75mph. even better on the interstate when you can get away with 80mph.

I'd still like to head out to el paso sometime to take advantage of that higher limit....
